The 22nd edition of the annual Chutney Soca Monarch was held at Skinner Park, San Fernando, on Saturday night.
The all-male final saw some of the biggest names in the chutney soca industry battle for the coveted title.

Defending champion, KI Persad, had to settle for third place this year as Ravi B and Omardath Maharaj tied for first.

Ravi B and Maharaj would split the combined first and second prizes of $650,000.

Ravi B performed “Budget”, while Maharaj sang his runaway hit “Ramsingh Sharma”.

This year, Southex Promotions introduced the Ultimate Chutney Challenge, a competition which allowed the original artistes an opportunity to perform some of their biggest hits ‘live’ on stage.

Chris Garcia emerged winner in that competition with his 22-year-old hit Chutney Bacchanal. He took home $100,000. Veteran singer Rikki Jai placed second, while Adesh Samaroo came in third.
